Ramblin'trails

Drive 'n'  hike.

These holidays are based at one or more locations, from where you can drive your car each day to the start of a marked circular walking trail. Then at the end of  an enjoyable walk you are back at your car  to drive back to your chosen accommodation.

All the accommodations that we offer for this type of holiday have a swimming pool and usually other leisure activities on site, such as tennis or horse riding. Usually these holidays are on bed and breakfast basis, but we also have self catering options available.

Great beaches are usually not too far away.

Free to choose where you walk each day.

There will always be a choice of several different circular walks, all within a leisurely hour's drive of your accommodation. Usually there is at least one walk starting  within  a couple of hundred metres of the accommodation, so you can have a day or two without driving.

Instruction on how to reach the walks, as well as instructions and maps for the walks are provided. We can also provide   .gpx tracks for many of the routes.

To hike or not to hike.

We know that not all members of the family will have the same level of enthusiam for walking. With that in mind, we have selected accommodations where there are other activities on site or closeby for non-walkers to enjoy.

Lounge around the pool with a good book, take a swim, go horseriding, a game of tennis, a stroll to a nearby beach for surfing, kayaking   - it is your holiday.

For 2018, the Rota Vicentina is launching several new circular routes in the region, so there will be even more choice.

You can also choose the length of each stay and if you want to explore Portugal a bit more, your car hire can be extended to allow you to travel about  at your leisure.
