Self-guided trail running on the Rota Vicentina from Santiago do Cacém to Cape St. Vincent - the most southwesterly point in Europe.
Itinerary.
Day one: Arrival in the Alentejo. Overnighting in the town of Santiago do Cacém at a small hotel with outdoor swimming pool near the centre of the town.
Day two: After breakfast, following a brief introductory meeting, you will set off on a 41 km run (431m accumulated ascents, 537m accumuilated descents) to the sleepy Alentejo town of Cercal do Alentejo where you will spend the night at a small hotel with outdoor swimming pool near the centre of the town .
Day three: A 46 km run (741m accumulated ascents, 901m accumuilated descents), first through the serra and then the "Alentejo montado from Cercal to Odemira, where you will spend the night at a rural guest house, with outdoor swimming pool, just outside the town.
Day four: A 40 km run (695m accumulated ascents, 579m accumuilated descents) from Odemira to Odeceixe on the Atlantic coast, where you will spend the night in a rural guesthouse with outdoor swimming pool to the south of the town.
Day five: A 32 km run (306m accumulated ascents, 200m accumuilated descents) from Odeceixe to Aljezur, taking in two complementary coastal circuits which do involve some sandy trails. You will spend the night at a hotel with outdoor swimming pool, near the edge of town.
Day six: A 45 km run (767m accumulated ascents, 790m accumuilated descents) from Aljezur to Aldeia da Pedralva, where you will spend the night at the tourist village, which has an outdoor swimming pool.
Day seven: A 41 km run (360m accumulated ascents, 257m accumuilated descents) from Pedralva to Cape St. Vincent and then back to Vila do Bispo on another trail You will spend your last night in a small hotel with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and spa facilities.
Day eight: After breakfast depart from Vila do Bispo.
Rest days can be arranged at any location along the route.
Private transfers from regional airports can be arranged. Prices available on request.
