Self-guided walking on the Rota Vicentina from Santiago do Cacém to Odeceixe.
The Alentejano Historical Way.
This programme covers all of the Historical Way stages in the Alentejo. At times, during the six days in the serra, you will be tempted by the views of the Atlantic, as the trail meanders through the forests, river valleys and over the serras, home to wild boar and mongooses, whilst passing sleepy inland Alentejano villages where life continues at an almost sedentary pace.
The trail itself is an incredible sensory experience, with abundant animal and plant life with a multitude of colours, shades and fragrances and varied geological phenomenon. The forests display the changing colours of the cork oak trees, vast arrays of white cistus flowers and the flowers and fruits of the strawberry tree, the fruit of which is used to make the local firewater, Aguardente de Medronho or the sweet less potent Licor de Medronho.
Walking. Varied walking tour only requiring a good basic fitness level. You walk on well maintained marked walking trails and partly on forest paths. Daily walking times are max. 8 hours.

An extra night at Santiago do Cacém, before the start of the main walking programme, is recommended. This will give you the opportunity to visit the town's castle and stroll around the historic centre at leisure, as well as take a 9km circular walk via the ruins of the Roman town of Mirobriga.
€45.00 lower season or €55.00 higher season, per person based on 2 persons sharing a twin/double room.
Or, you could spend an extra night at the end of the programme in Odeceixe to be able to take a 15km circular walk taking in the award winning beach.
€55.00 lower season or €65.00 higher season, per person based on 2 persons sharing a twin/double room.
A rest day mid way through the programme at the guest house in São Luis, where you can relax around the pool and take in the views of the "serra".
€40.00 lower season or €50.00 higher season, per person based on 2 persons sharing a twin/double room.

What's included.
The standard package includes: 7 nights bed and breakfast in twin/double room with en suite facilities, 1 evening meal (excluding alcohol) on day two, 6 simple packed lunches + 1.5 l of water each day, baggage transfers during tour, emergency support phone line, 4x4 emergency support vehicle, obligatory personal accident insurance and walk information pack provided by Ramblin'tejano, our licenced recreational activities operator in Portugal.
Excluding: flights, airport transfers (unless requested), travel insurance*, dinners, other drinks, personal expenses and gratuities.
