Ramblin'trails

Itinerary.

Day one: Arrival in the Alentejo. Overnighting in the coastal Alentejo village of Porto Covo at a small hotel with a swimming pool near the centre of the village. If you arrive early enough you will have the chance to find some of the caches that are located close to the village centre.

Day two: Welcome meeting after breakfast at your guest house before the first full day of searching from Porto Covo das Bandeiras to Vila Nova de Milfontes. This involves a 20 km (6-7 hours) hike with more than 15 caches to be found along the way. You will spend the night at a small hotel with a swimming pool near to the old historic centre of the village, close to the castle with views over the river estuary. There are a few caches close to the hotel which you may wish to find during the evening, in fact the instruction for one does suggest you go there after dark!

Day three: A 15 km (4½-5 hours) easy walk continuing along the coast from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve, where another ten caches can be discovered on the way. You will spend the night at a delightful guest house with a swimming pool situated just behind the sand dunes.

Day four: Almograve to Zambujeira do Mar. A 21km (6-7 hours) walk heading south from Almograve, passing through the village of Cavaleiro and the historic Cabo Sardão lighthouse. Another fifteen caches await you. You will spend the night at a small guest house close to the village centre.

Day five: Zambujeira do Mar to Odeceixe. An 18 km (5½-6 hours) walk along a coastal path, visiting the fishing village of Azenha do Mar. There are at least ten caches for you to seek out. You will spend the night at a small guest house close to the river.

Day six: After breakfast depart from Odeceixe.

Options.

An extra night at Odeceixe to be able to take a 15km circular walk from the village via the awarding beach.

A rest day mid way through the programme at the guest house behind the sand dunes in Almograve, where you can relax around the pool.

What's included.
