 Rota Vicentina.

Rota Vicentina is a network of walking trails in Sw Portugal. Comprising the Historical Way, the Fishermen’s Trail, and several Circular Routes, totalling 400 km, between the town of Santiago do Cacém and the Cape St. Vincent, the south westernmost point in Europe.


Historical Way.

With 12 sections and 230 km, integrating GR 11 / E9, the European long distance path connecting Sagres to St. Petersburg, the Historical Way was certified in 2016 by the European wide label “Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe”, for its high walking quality.

Fishermen's Trail.

Comprising 4 sections in the Alentejo and 5 complementary circuits in the Algarve, totalling 120 km, the Fishermen’s Trail is a single track along the cliffs which can only be travelled by foot. It is more demanding from a physical point of view as there are sand dunes to tackle on virtually every stage .

Santa Clara a Velha

Circular trails.

In 2016, there were 5 short circular routes, totalling 46km,  to choose from, at Almograve, S. Luís, Troviscais, Santa Clara and Sabóia, all located in the municipality of Odemira, each with a duration of just half a day or less.

For 2018, several more circular trails are being developed and marked in close proximity to the  Rota Vicentina.
